Donald Trump on Sunday vowed to “act” on a purported situation in South Africa, the home country of “first Buddy” and richest man in the world Elon Musk, and some of his closest supporters pushed back.
Trump over the weekend took to Truth Social to complain about Democratic lawmakers who he says have delaying his nominees.
After that, he mentioned an issue that some on the far-right have long complained about.
“South Africa is confiscating land, and treating certain classes of people VERY BADLY. It is a bad situation that the Radical Left Media doesn’t want to so much as mention,” the President said. “A massive Human Rights VIOLATION, at a minimum, is happening for all to see.”
He added, “The United States won’t stand for it, we will act. Also, I will be cutting off all future funding to South Africa until a full investigation of this situation has been completed!”

Trump’s own supporters stood up to the President, who some said was acting against his promises to be “America First.”
A user identified as Jeri, who frequently posts pro-Trump material on Truth Social, said, “Why does the USA have to be involved in all these countries focus on America First ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸.”
Another user, @ksaun66, promotes Trump-related material. But on Sunday, he told the President, “I agree with cutting off fund.”
“That money belongs here, and to the taxpayers of the United States,” the user added. “Not sure I agree with this. We should stay out of it.”
One user who has Trump’s face superimposed on Mount Rushmore as her background photo, @AbigailAdams1, said, “I like the part about cutting funding.”
“Before we overextend ourselves, how about we focus on our problems at home?” she added.
Self-proclaimed Trump voter @ZDShinder said, “I understand that Elon Musk has interests in South Africa, but you’re going to have to convince me (and all other Americans (especially those of us who voted for you)) that South Africa matters to us.”
“America First Always,” the user added Sunday.
Frank Barnes, who has been supportive of Trump in the past, chimed in, “Stop sending my tax dollars to foreign countries, now!!!”
Another pro-Trump user, @Clauneck6, said, “I don’t think we should get involved, it’s not our business.”
“We should however cut the funding it’s time to heal this country. I’m sure there are millions of capable people there that are able to figure it out,” the user added on Truth Social.
