’90s actor Shaun Weiss is wrapping up the year with a major life update.
The 45-year-old, best known for the 1992 film The Mighty Ducks, announced on Christmas Day he’s expecting his first child with girlfriend Shannon.
The actor shared the exciting news to his Instagram Story with a cropped photo of his partner holding up a positive pregnancy test.

“The BEST Christmas present EVER!” he captioned the heartwarming announcement.
Weiss revealed they were naming their child Charlie – boy or girl.
“Coming this August,” he confirmed.
Weiss told TMZ the name was to honour his late father, regardless of the baby’s sex.

In another snap posted to his Instagram grid, Weiss dubbed it his “best Christmas EVER”.
In the selfie, Weiss posed with his partner in the background surrounded by presents and their lit-up Christmas tree.
Weiss rose to fame in the ’90s film franchise, The Might Ducks.
The actor starred as the youth ice hockey team’s goalkeeper, Greg ‘Goldie’ Goldberg, for three films from 1992 to 1996.
Weiss was just 13 years old when he was cast in the first movie.
He continued to act in the late ’90s and 2000s in projects such as Heavyweights with A-list actor Ben Stiller, Suits on the Loose and the television series Freaks and Geeks.
In September, the star delighted fans by announcing he had returned to the ice skating rink 30 years after filming The Mighty Ducks.

“Last time I skated was the final day of filming D3,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of him in the fictional team’s jersey.
“It’s like riding a bike. With bones that have aged 30 years.”

Speaking to Today in October, the actor said “after about 10 to 15 minutes, I was skating around again, like 30 years was nothing.”
“I don’t think there was any way that I could have known what it would turn into and what the impact would be, especially all these years later,” he said of the film’s success.

“And definitely, I couldn’t have predicted how meaningful the support of the fans would have been in my own life,” he added.
Over the years, the actor has been open about his public addiction battle.
The actor celebrated four years of sobriety this year.

While speaking about how his addiction and how his life had changed, Weiss said “anything that could go wrong went wrong and now that I got clean, I’m just in tune with life and it’s almost the exact opposite”.
“Anything that can happen right is kind of happening in my sobriety. And that the getting back on the ice for the first time in 30 years is a prime example of that.”
